Privacy policy.

The short version

Le Petit Badger has no advertising or developer-operated analytics. Navigation works without an account. Invited athletes may choose to sign in with Apple and publicly share their name, profile photo, current position, and last-seen time. Sharing is off until the athlete turns it on and stops immediately when they turn it off.

Data the app uses

Location

With your permission, the app uses precise location to show your position, route progress, distance to landmarks, and nearby route or equipment information. If you enable race tracking, location can continue while the app is in the background. A last trusted navigation snapshot may be stored locally so the app can restore your route context. If an invited athlete explicitly turns on public sharing, the app periodically sends a current coordinate, accuracy, altitude when available, and capture time to the La Petite Badger service. The service replaces the previous coordinate and does not retain a route history.

Athlete accounts and photos

Athlete enrollment uses Sign in with Apple and a reusable race invitation. We store Apple’s app-specific user identifier, the name supplied during Apple sign-in, an optional profile photo, and a revocable session. Apple does not provide a profile photo; athletes choose the photo they want to publish. Viewer access does not require an account.

Microphone and speech recognition

The microphone is used only when you start a voice question. Speech recognition runs on the iPhone when an on-device model is available. If it is not available, Apple’s connected speech-recognition service may process the audio. Le Petit Badger does not send audio or transcripts to a developer-operated server and does not retain them after the voice interaction.

Maps and Mapbox telemetry

The app connects to Mapbox to display and download map styles and offline map tiles. The Mapbox Maps SDK may send de-identified location and usage telemetry to Mapbox. You can open the Mapbox attribution control on the map to opt out of Mapbox telemetry. See the Mapbox privacy policy.

Local settings

Route selection, route progress, map readiness, and other setup state may be stored on your iPhone. This information is used to restore the app and is not sent to a Le Petit Badger server.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. When an athlete turns on sharing, their display name, optional photo, most recently received position, and last-seen time are intentionally available to anyone using the app. Cloudflare Workers, D1, and R2 operate the athlete service and store its current records. The app also relies on Apple for device services and sign-in, and Mapbox for maps and related telemetry. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies and platform controls.

Your choices and deletion

• Location, microphone, and speech permissions can be changed in iOS Settings.
• Race tracking can be turned off in the app.
• Public athlete sharing can be turned off in the Athletes tab. Doing so immediately removes the current coordinate from the public feed.
• Mapbox telemetry can be disabled through the map attribution control.
• Athletes can delete their account in the app. This deletes the athlete profile, photo, sessions, and current coordinate.

Deleting the app removes locally stored settings and route state, but does not itself delete an athlete account. Athletes must stop sharing or use Delete account before removing the app. Apple, Cloudflare, and Mapbox apply their own retention practices to information they process for the service.

Children

The app is designed for adult PTL participants and support teams. It is not directed to children under 13.
